STATE OF HIGHER EDUCATION

The Future of Higher Education in Texas
Retired four-star admiral and former Navy SEAL William H. McRaven served as the commander of U.S. Special Operations Command, overseeing the operation that killed Osama bin Laden in 2011. Leading a force of 69,000 men and women, McRaven was responsible for conducting counter-terrorism operations worldwide and is a recognized national authority on U.S. foreign policy, advising presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama on defense issues.
In January 2015, he became the 12th Chancellor of the University of Texas System, spearheading the ambitious vision for the UT System that educates 221,000 students. A graduate of UT Austin, McRaven has recommitted the UT System and its institutions to improving the lives of Texans and people all over the world through education, research and health care.
Join us as Admiral McRaven discusses his thoughts on the future of public higher education in Texas, the important relationship between workforce and higher education, and the 85th Texas Legislative Session.
